  • Summarizes an epidemiologic study of congenital heart disease in the Qinghai plateau (in China and/or Tibet). Of 13446 children examined, 118 (0.88%) had congenital heart disease. Of those 118, there were 8 born at sea level, 29 at 2261m above sea level, 40 at 2500-3050m, and 41 at 3200-5157m. There are not enough details presented, however, to eliminate the numerous potential confounding factors in the relationship between altitude and congenital heart disease. [101]
